I decided to post a “Best of” list to exhume some of the most popular construction marketing posts on this blog so far. Here you go:
1. 13 Free Web Marketing Tools
Everyone seems to like this list. How about I add a couple more for you?
Smashing Magazine is a great design resource full of images, templates, wallpaper, design ideas, Wordpress themes, and much, much more. Check it out.
FriendFeed is a compelling new tool you can use to connect a lot of your social profiles like Twitter, etc. The internet is a series of tubes (or pipes) and water (or content.) Think of FriendFeed as the place where all your tubes come together. Just add content.
2. 5 Great Construction Marketing Sites
Mark Buckshon of the Construction Marketing Ideas blog has been around for quite a while. He has a great newsletter you should go subscribe to right now. Go ahead. Do it. We’ll wait.
MUST CLICK: Also, all the great folks over at Contractor Talk are ready to help you with your construction-related problems. They might make you laugh a little too.
This one describes my philosophy of our chosen industry. Also it has one of my favorite construction jokes:
“A surgeon client complained to a contractor about the quoted price and said, ‘I don’t make that much for my time, and I’m a surgeon.’”
To which the contractor responded:
“Neither did I when I was a surgeon.”
4. Is Referral Marketing the Only Way?
Referrals are great. They are the best way to get new business. Referred clients are loyal, and don’t get ticked off easily.
There are two things you need to know about referrals:
- Implement a formal referral system and follow it.
- Supplement your marketing efforts with the other categories of marketing which you can read about in my marketing guide located here.
5. 10 Link Bait Tips for Contractors
It seems everyone is focusing on web marketing these days, and for good reason. And I’m a huge proponent of using valuable offers, and clear calls to action.
Come up with your own idea for a valuable offer for your website by reading this list.
BONUS: Free Website Critique
I will personally critique your website, and give you ideas for ways to get more clients and make more sales through your site.
